Dog grooming - Care for your Dog

If you had to think about the best way to care for your dog, several things would come into mind. Afterall, it is your duty to make sure that your beloved companion is happy, healthy and satsified at all times. One way to do it, is to make sure that he is properly walked and is able to enjoy a wide variety of acticvities such as playing fetch games. A good diet is also crucial when it comes to your canines health. Something that is often overlooked: grooming. If you had to stirr up an image in your mind, it would propably depict a crowd of poodles and their eccentric owners at a dog show. But this is only a part of dog grooming. In your own home, it all boils down to making sure that your pet friend is clean and healthy. A lot of the stuff involved you can do yourself. If you don't have the time, you can shell out some money to spend on a professional groomer. This is pretty expensive most of the time. This is why it is such a good idea to think about what you are willing to do at home. As a dog owner, you are propably familiar with some of the basic routines. Cleaning your dogs teeth is propably one of them. No, dental chewing toys are not enough. Use toothpaste, but not human toothepaste as this can be detriminal to your companions health. Bathing, removing earwax etc might be less enjoyable tasks but the need to be done.

In the End, one of tha most important steps you can take to make sure that your friend is happy, is to trim his furr every once in a while. If it is not shining, check his diet or brush more. Because if you don't do it, matting might occur. This nasty entanglement of hairs can lead to serious cases of skin infection. As hait trimming is very costly, you should try it to do yourself. But don't buy a very cheap pet clipper, as these are often loud, overheat and simply do not do the job well. Two brands i favour are andis and Oster. They have been on the market for a long time and are sure to save you a lot of money in the long run, even though they might be a bit more expensive. But whatever you do: Be very careful not to hurt your pet. Try to gauge his reponse and act accordingly. Only then you can make sure that you are actually helping him, improving his wellbeing, instead of bothing the job with carelessness.
